HENRY COUNTY — This weekend gets a little louder and a lot more colorful. Friday brings food trucks and a splash pad to Avalon Park, plus a chance to cut your own bouquet at Sweet Magnolia Farmstead's U-Pick flowers. Saturday, boots hit the floor for a line dancing class in Stockbridge. And Sunday, McDonough hosts something brand new: Loc Fest ATL, a first-year festival celebrating loc’d hair and natural hair culture, landing here after years in Brooklyn. Sweet Magnolia Farmstead is opening the fields for U-Pick flowers this Friday evening and Saturday. Wander the rows, cut your own blooms, and build a bouquet by hand. It's a nice excuse to slow down and spend an evening or afternoon outside — no rush, no itinerary, just flowers.

Kimberly Jones has been running Loc Fest in New York since 2019, drawing 1,000 plus attendees each year. A visit to Georgia turned into a move, and this year she’s bringing the festival to Henry County for the first time.
“Atlanta is like the hair mecca,” Jones said. “I’ve been to the Bronner Brothers show, the Natural Hair Show — and I always felt like the community needed an event that specifically featured locs because it’s so massive. I realized they didn’t have one here, so I said okay, we’re gonna try to do this in Georgia.”
The day opens with African drummers and a short Loc Fest documentary, then rolls into a panel with locticians, therapists, and wellness pros talking hair, health, and everything connected to it. Locticians from local salons will style loc’d looks on a live runway, followed by a fashion component featuring cultural designs. From there: live performances spanning poetry to hip hop to neo soul, plant-based and local food vendors, small business and artisan shopping, and nonprofit exhibitors.
Over 600 tickets have already been claimed. It’s family-friendly and free, but you still need a ticket.

High-level bull riding in an accessible, community setting. Fair warning: this one's a real drive, not a quick hop, so plan it as a destination rather than a same-day add-on.

Three Texas guitar slingers headline this one: Ian Moore, Johnny Moeller, and Jesse Dayton, playing together as The Texas Headhunters. Peachtree City's Venus Kings and Sons-N-Britches open. Rain or shine, no umbrellas allowed (bring a poncho instead), and bring your own cooler or grab a plate from the food trucks on site. Free parking off Tiger Trail.
Stockbridge
No experience needed, ages 8 and up. This one's genuinely close — Panola Mountain State Park sits right on the Henry County line.
Stonecrest
A mycologist walks you through the wild fungi popping up on Arabia Mountain. Genuinely different from anything else on this list, if you're up for the drive.
